Situation of small importers
A parallel importer is a company in the automotive industry from Switzerland and abroad that imports and sells vehicles to Switzerland. If the vehicle has not been registered abroad for more than 6 months, the state levies a CO2 tax.
The cost of this CO2 sanction depends on the vehicle weight and CO2 emissions. Low CO2 passenger cars that are below the CO2 target value do not have to pay a CO2 tax. However, if the vehicle deviates from the target value, the costs can quickly amount to several thousand francs.
In contrast to large importers, small importers must invoice the CO2 tax to the Federal Roads Office (ASTRA) for each individual vehicle. Due to this circumstance, low CO2 vehicles cannot compensate for high CO2 passenger cars.
The solution concept
CO2 Börse AG developed a CO2 tax solution concept for small importers in order to support sustainable profitability despite CO2 sanctions.
If a small importer imports a CO2-neutral vehicle, CO2 Börse AG pays the company a CO2 bonus for each individual car. However, if it is a co2-strong vehicle, CO2 Börse AG offers the CO2 tax at a reduced rate.
This solution model makes it possible for small importers to have no direct disadvantage over large importers. Even the Swiss consumer protector praises this CO2 concept as a means of promoting competition that benefits the consumer.
CO2 Calculation and Processing
CO2 Börse AG developed the car import platform to enable small importers to calculate CO2 taxes quickly and easily. Neben den Kosten und einem möglichen Rabatt kann das Unternehmen ebenfalls die CO2 Abgabe elektronisch innerhalb von Sekunden abwickeln. Registration for the dealer platform is free and can now be done here.
CO2 Börse AG is happy to assist small importers with all aspects of CO2 taxes and car imports into Switzerland.
