CO2 credit system: offset your high-consumption cars with CO₂ credits.
As a car dealer, you can receive CO2 credits from CO2 Börse AG if you import a climate-neutral passenger car into Switzerland that is subject to the CO2 tax.
The new CO2 credit system gives you the option of offsetting high-consumption passenger cars with the CO₂ credits generated by registering CO₂-neutral vehicles.
This CO₂ system enables small importers to effectively manage their CO₂ balance while reducing their costs, even if they import fewer than 50 vehicles per year.
How it works
- Register free of charge as a car dealer on the CO2 Börse AG dealer platform.
- Use the CO₂ dealer calculator to determine the CO₂ credits you would receive for your electric car or that you need for a fuel-efficient passenger car.
- Enter your CO2-emitting car on the CO2 Börse AG dealer platform and you will automatically receive the CO2 tax form by e-mail in seconds. Your CO2 credits are automatically credited to or deducted from your account.
- You can also obtain a detailed overview of all registered vehicles and your current CO2 account balance on the dealer platform.
CO2 credit system FAQ
Participation in the dealer program is free of charge.
As you do not yet have any CO₂ credits, we will send you a corresponding invoice by post. The outstanding amount will be settled by bank transfer.
As soon as you have registered the vehicle, the credits will be credited to your CO₂ account. You can use these credits to offset high-consumption cars.
Your CO2 credits expire on December 31 of each calendar year.
No, if you want to pay for a high-emission car with CO2 credits, your CO2 account must contain 100% of the required credits.
The credit system can only be used for passenger cars. You will still receive a payout for light commercial vehicles.
According to our GTCs, all registered vehicles must be registered by 31.12 of the calendar year.
